Unexpected Wedding Trends For 2016

As always, I love to share fun facts for tattooed brides who are planning their upcoming weddings. Today, the wonderful Killarney Hotels are sharing with Marry Me Ink some of their favourites trends that are starting to emerge with their bookings this year. I know my favourites are the 2-in-1 dress (such as this fabulous Oh My Honey Alexandra dress which features a detachable skirt) and shiny metallic colours.Unexpected Wedding Trends 2016-infographic

We met in the local pub at a gig, where Kyle’s friend asked me and my friend to play pool. I accidentally stabbed Kyle in the face with a pool cue and then eventually he asked for my number.. Haha!

The music at our wedding is what was really personal – our ceremony music was a selection of Muse songs, who are one of our favourite bands who we connected over when we first met. Then we went on to have David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac playing throughout the day, including our first dance which was Bowie’s Let’s Dance. We’d always joked about having it as a first dance, so was great to make it a reality.

Bridal trends can be a little irrelevant at times as the main body of my brides come to me because I’ll give them something different; I have a lot of brides wanting vintage styled make-up or big red lipstick, which I’m always pleased to see on catwalks. This year is no difference.

Lips – all or nothing!

This year is seemingly ALL about bright lipstick or barely there nude and glossed lips. A favourite red amongst my bridal clients is Box by Illamasqua but I’ve also had a lot of brides choose pinkier tones recently too. Couple this with falsies and an up do and you have got bang on vintage glamour.

Bronze is a winning medal!

Beautiful bronzes are all over the catwalk this year. I’ve always favoured shimmered eyeshadows – I find bronze so much more mesmerising than gold. Coupled with nude lips, brushed & sculpted brow and highlighted cheekbones, you’ll captivate your bridal party and feel fierce as hell.

Glowing, not glitter ball!

Whilst I love highlighter, let’s not go for the glitterball look. I flippin’ ADORE Radiance Veil by Illamasqua under foundation. If my brides get a glimpse of the tub and question what’s going on their face, I tell them  that it’ll make them look like they’ve had ten hours of sleep the night before their wedding when, realistically, they’ll have had about four at a push. It just radiates from your face and adds a touch extra oomph to your skin. It’s gonna be a must have in my kit FOREVER.

Fruitbat Textiles – Bridal Headpiece Collection

Bridalcollection2015-14

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to introduce you to Charlotte of Fruitbat Textiles – Fashion accessories that now have a bridal collection. The pieces are gorgeous and will look great for the tattooed bride going for a vintage feel!

Bridalcollection2015-39

My name is Charlotte, and my business is Fruitbat Textiles. I recently graduated from UCA Farnham where I specialised in woven textiles. While I studied I worked as a milliners assistant, this really sparked a passion in me for fashion accessories, and the combination of skills I have learned have made for a really unique business. I have always had love of textiles, and quirky/alternative fashion so my business is a really exciting way to share that love with others!

More often than not I am inspired by my home county of Somerset and its beautiful countryside, especially in my dying and weaving. This particular collection was inspired by a selection of Irregular Choice bridal shoes – I absolutely adore their designs! I love the combinations of textures through different materials and mixing patterns, and most of all the quirky twist on traditional styles and fabrics. This is what I tried to echo in my headwear collection.
