Introducing Black Cherry – Wedding Hair And Beauty

MMI_1115

This morning I get to introduce you to Marry Me Ink’s latest advertiser – Black Cherry Wedding Hair & Beauty. I really love looking through Kristy’s work!

My name is Kristy, and I own Black Cherry Hair and Beauty. I specialise in alternative hair and make up and love all things vintage, zombie or cheesecake related.

I live in Kent with my gorgeous wife, our cheeky baby, Atticus, and a menagerie of crazy animals: Daisy (the dog), Ducky (the cat) and Petri (the lizard). Ok, so I have a thing for ‘Land Before Time’…

After moving from South Africa in 2003 and studying NVQ 2 & 3 hairdressing, I found I had a natural flare for ‘hair up’ and with the help of some awesome friends and family, I have built Black Cherry from the ground up. I love creating unique styles, be it for a wedding or photo shoot and anything from vintage to steampunk, goth to boho or rockabilly to punk. Back combing, hairspray, hairpieces and anything imaginative? That’s me, that is. Using hair pieces and structures to make bold statement hair is my ‘thing’. My next wedding this year is pirate themed – a bride with dreadlocks and a ship fascinator! Can’t wait.

The Day Pigs Flew – Ruzena & Greg

It’s good to be back home this weekend. It was also lovely to have plenty of wedding in my inbox that I’ll be sharing with you these next few weeks! But today, I get to share with you Ruzena & Greg’s cute, simple wedding from Lotus Blossom Photography.

I got the idea of a wedding theme “When Pigs Fly”. I had no intention of a theme or anything like that. It was just so fitting because we were married a month before our nine year dating anniversary.

Greg and I met almost ten years ago at the Broadway Brewhouse/Mojo Grill through our circle of friends that would get together for two-for-one’s (two pints for the price of one) on Sunday nights. We both had our own thing going on so it was a delayed courtship. Greg would not leave me alone though and eventually, he stole my heart. Our first date was a hockey game. I had two free tickets from a friend (thanks Aaron!) I still didn’t know him very well, but I called all my friends and they had plans or were working. I don’t even think I had his phone number. Yeah that’s right, because I showed up at the tattoo shop he was working at and barged in all nervous and was like, “Do you want to go with me to a hockey game?” And he asked, “Uh, yeah, when?” And I said, “Um, well, now.”

It was graduation weekend at UMass Amherst, where I am currently attending for my master’s degree. That Friday night a few friends and I decided to go out to a bar that we frequent called McMurphy’s. While standing there amidst conversation I noticed two guys looking at me from across the bar. Out of curiosity, I approached them. They introduced themselves as Max and Nick and said they were brothers. We had a few drinks, some interesting conversation; they complemented me on my tattoos, by this time the bar was getting ready to close so we finished our drinks and made our way to the door. Upon leaving the bar Max made a comment to me about how he really liked how strong and confident I was and that he hoped he could see me again.
