A Gold & Glittery Warehouse Wedding With Matching Glasses – Megan & Steve

I have been DYING to share this wedding on Marry Me Ink for some time from Savannah Lauren Photography – Megan never wore contacts and wasn’t going to start to on her wedding day so she decided to purchase her beautiful gold glasses that matched her dress perfectly and I’m in love.

Steve and I met in our High School Art Class! I was a Freshman and he was a Senior. I had a HUGE crush on him! We didn’t end up getting together then, but I never stopped thinking about him. We reconnected on Facebook 10+ years later and had our first real date. We’ve been together ever since!

Steve proposed to me a DIY way! He’s a screenprinter and has a studio in our home. He created an art print of a bouquet of flowers that he knew I would love and used it to propose. One day he was finishing up the final color on the print and he asked me to come help him. I had already helped him with some of the printing so I wasn’t expecting him to propose… I printed the last color and when I lifted the screen there was a different version that said “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” on it! I jumped and screamed and immediately said yes! In order to trick me, he printed 100 versions without the text so we gave them out as wedding favors/keepsakes.

Oh man! There are so many highlights! I absolutely loved everything about our wedding day. So, I’ll give you my top three:

1. First look – because it was so special! We were both so anxious/excited to see each other and it was so nice to spend some time alone before the ceremony began.
2. Ceremony/Vows – We wrote our entire ceremony from beginning to end.  Steve and I are not your traditional couple and didn’t want a traditional ceremony. The ceremony was filled with words that meant something to both of us. We also wrote our own vows that were incredibly personal. I will never forget those moments.
3. Dancing – Steve and I don’t dance. In fact, we even contemplated not having a DJ or including any dancing in our wedding at all! We eventually decided that it would be nice to have the dancing for our guests, but I’m pretty sure that he and I ended up having the most fun. We danced the night away with our family and friends! Also, Steve showed us all up with his incredibly sweet dance moves. Specifically, the finger guns.

A Victorian Carnival Wedding Weeking Part I – Jo & Leigh

DSC_5416

It’s finally here!! The ultimate tattooed bride Miss Jo Black got married last year and, in the run up, blogged for Marry Me Ink with all her planning details. Jo and her husband Leigh decided to split their wedding celebrations over two days – One day for the legal part with their very closest family and the second day celebrating with all of their friends. Today I get to share with you Jo and Leigh’s legal part and family celebrations (You’ll have to come back in the next few weeks to see the second half) from photographer Matthew Harris Photo.

I am a tattoo artist, I own a studio in a small town called Frome, it’s a busy and vibrant town in the middle of nowhere. But Leigh had been following me on Instagram for some time (@missjoblacktattoos) and commenting on my work saying he would love to book a tattoo with me.

One busy Saturday when I had a couple of other girls in the shop he showed up! He was living in Birmingham at the time but visiting his son, who he had brought along, about an hours drive from Frome. I was immediately attracted to him, his confidence and his amazing smile were quite overwhelming. The other girls in the shop shot me some looks too and I must have gone bright red.

I greeted him and made the booking for him, whilst he was in the shop his son said “Dad I love you SOOOOOOO much’ and obviously this made us girls melt a little bit. After he left one of my friends joked “Imagine! He could be the man you marry!”

Shortly after Leigh and Finn left to have a wander around Frome, I popped out to get some coffees for us from a café up the road. They were in there getting ice cream, so I went over and said hi, told him I had no more clients that day and we had a walk around Frome together before they drove home.

A Brighton, Fabrica Wedding With A Bride In Gold – Alex & Robin

Alex & Robin, Brighton

I love it when a bride wears a coloured dress. That’s exactly what tattooed bride Alex did when she married Robin at Fabrica in Brighton and her gold dress looks gorgeous (which was purchased on eBay – Amazing!). With killer shots from Jay Emme Photography, I can’t wait to share their day with you!

Alex & Robin, Brighton

All the way back in August 2011 after the London riots, myself and a friend put together a little fundraising picnic in the middle of Brighton to help the community clean up efforts. Although Brighton wasn’t affected, we both had a lot of friends who were living in the midst of it all and wanted to help in a small way. We put a call out on Twitter and, among others, Robin turned up; we were both attached at the time but there was definitely an attraction with hindsight. He used to be in a sketch show which involved him dressing up as a pink bear, so I said to him “You’re the pink bear!” and he, rather embarrassedly, nodded and we didn’t really speak again that day so I thought he thought I was an idiot. Turned out later he thought I’d thought the same.

A little over 6 months later, he invited me to his house for dinner and we hit it off immediately. We became inseparable after about 2 weeks and then in July 2012 he proposed. We’re both big Batman fans and he got up before a packed, opening weekend showing of the Dark Knight Rises at our favourite cinema in Brighton and proposed – when he got up and picked up a microphone, I said “WTF are you doing??”. I said yes, obviously!

The highlight of our day was probably finally getting to speak to each other after the ceremony was over. We were both a bit giddy and hadn’t spoken properly for nearly two days so we were just gibbering about how weirdly fast everything had gone and how much we were both dying for a drink!

Also being able so see so many great pals who had travelled from all over to see us was really special. It was important to us that it wasn’t at all formal and we could just relax with friends and enjoy ourselves.
