A Musical, Alice In Wonderland Wedding – Alpha & Catherine

catherine-alpha-wed-velvet-storm-photo-70

It’s Christmas week! To celebrate the run up to the holidays I thought I’d start with a beautiful summer wedding from Velvet Storm Photography from earlier this year. Alpha and Cat were married at Deans Place Hotel in East Sussex and had a fun and family filled day of celebrations.

We met through mutual friends. It was funny because we both had the same friends for years but had never crossed each other’s paths, even though we both worked within the same industry (Alpha as a DJ and Catherine as a club promoter). Anyways about five years ago Alpha dated one of Friends. Thankfully it didn’t work out but it meant that we got to know each other a little during that time. About a year later we bumped into each other outside a nightclub, had a drunken conversation about deleting each other from Facebook which Cath is still mortified about. Alpha then re-added Cath later that night when she went home and as they say the rest is history.

Well we had an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding as were a bit theatrical ourselves. We wanted big bright colours, topsy-turvy decorations, and entertainment that continued throughout the day. Were not traditional people however we have traditional beliefs of marriage. The ceremony was very elegant (until dropped the rings and Alpha cursed lol) with a live saxophone list, but that’s where the tradition stopped. With both of us working in the entertainment industry we really wanted to put on a show that all of our guests would never forget. From a flash mob of Irish dancers, to singing waiters, to fire poi, we kept everybody on their toes all night. We wanted to look back at our wedding and say it was the biggest and best party we had ever been to and we definitely succeeded in achieving that.

An 80s & Strawberry Themed Armenian Wedding – Alice & Chris

Happy November! As much as I love Christmas, I still want all the Pumpkin Spice everything!

Today on Marry Me Ink, I get to share with you Alice and Chris’ strawberry and 80s New Wave and Rock themed wedding from Bri Johnson Photography at Bridgewater Manor.

We both met on a dating site actually, not very romantic at all, but we did talk over the phone for a week or two and I can say it was definitely love at first sight. I’ve barely spent a day away from him since we’ve met.

Our strawberry theme was definitely all for me, but our music selection for the DJ was all 80s new wave and rock and everyone loved it as well! I actually planned the whole wedding myself, down to every detail. Picking out the save the dates and invitation was the best – I loved seeing our names and wedding date in print on strawberry invitations!

A Haunted Hotel Wedding At Halloween – Mallory & Chris

With Halloween less than a week away (Do you have your pumpkins ready?!), I just had to share with you Mallory and Chris’ dress-up haunted Hotel Havana wedding from Jeff Gilmer Photography.

I met Chris on my birthday, which happens to be New Years’s Eve. He crashed my party with a couple of my co-workers. A week later he messaged me online to ask me out. He lived in Austin at the time, but every weekend he made it a point to come see me in San Antonio. Well, at the time he already had a job lined up in Houston. I had two choices let him go, see what happens, (do the whole long distance thing) or do something crazy and go with him. So after only 3 months of dating I went with him, and don’t regret a thing.

We love horror movies, Halloween, and spooky cartoons. On top of being on Halloween, we picked a haunted venue that reflected that (with the best Cuban sandwiches), tried to tie together little details that weren’t too kitschy like the gold skeleton hand bracelets/vampire teeth button down shirts, and created a slide show of black and white Halloween cartoons that was projected on the courtyard wall.

As for DIY – we made these paper masks that we were really proud of. The template was made by guy named Steve Wintercroft who made really user friendly guidelines to make these really cool, modern animal masks from basically cereal box cardboard. They came out awesome!

E&W Couture – Beach Hut Brides

I have always love the sweet, ethereal style of E&W Couture (Which until recently I didn’t realise stood for  “Ears & Whiskers Couture” – Hence the rabbit ears on their logo!), so when Carly Turner Photography sent me this beach hut shoot, I just had to say yes to featuring it! Carly sent me little email with all the details about the shoot..

I’m a wedding photographer and love shooting weddings, but I also love all the girly bits – especially the dresses! I photographed a wedding in the Spring and my bride had this really simple, unique two piece outfit (long skirt and seperate strapless crop top). The bride had told me that it had been made by E&W Couture and that I should check out the website as they had some really gorgeous stuff.

I got in contact with E&W Couture and ended up arranging to use their dresses on some styled bridal work. I chose dresses that I thought would suit the models best.
